ToppelFest 2024

This year's ToppelFest was a hit, setting the tone for a vibrant and engaging semester ahead! As part of orientation, incoming ‘Canes had the chance to connect with peers, network with employers, get freebies, and have fun!

Andrea Nieves Mendez

Career Coach

Meet Andrea Nieves Mendez, a junior Biomedical Engineering major on the Pre-Med track from Puerto Rico!

Andrea is the Public Relations Chair for the Puerto Ricanes Club, the first Puerto Rican cultural club at UM. She is also part of Society of Women Engineers, UM-MEDLIFE, and a campus ambassador for Gift of Life.

Andrea is most looking forward to her classes and networking with companies that are relevant to her major. She says that she is #KeepinIt100 by holding herself accountable with her classes and trying her best to avoid procrastination! This led her to have many growing experiences, like research and medical scribing.

Piece of Advice:

“Everyone is on their own journey. Do not let your peers’ accomplishments or actions diminish your own; we are all working towards our own purpose – take life one day at a time!”
