#OwnIt

Meet Tyler Houp, a junior majoring in Marketing with a minor in Artificial Intelligence!

This past summer, Tyler interned at Schonfeld in New York City as an Early Careers Talent Marketing Intern. In this role, he supported the firm’s employer branding strategy by conducting social media audits, developing content ideas, and assisting with the launch of their Instagram. Collaborating with human capital and communications teams gave him valuable insight into how marketing and people strategy intersect.

Tyler values how Toppel keeps students connected to opportunities, from weekly newsletters to career fairs and networking events. These resources have helped him discover internships, stay informed, and gain the tools to take the next steps in his career.

Piece of Advice:

“Take advantage of every opportunity, even if it’s not in the industry you first imagined. I never thought I’d work in the financial sector, but interning at Schonfeld showed me how marketing connects across fields and taught me lessons that shaped my career path. Staying open to the unexpected can lead to the most impactful growth.”

Eduardo Soler

Career Coach
Meet Eduardo Soler, born in the Dominican Republic and now pursuing a Master of Science in Taxation!

Eduardo is active on campus as a member of the Jiu-Jitsu Club and the Catholic group. He’s looking forward to completing his CPA exams and starting a full-time career in accounting after graduation. Along the way, he’s discovered just how valuable the Toppel Career Center can be, from internships to professional attire, and everything in between.

Eduardo is committed to #OwnIt by being realistic about deadlines, proactive with opportunities, and intentional about his career growth. This mindset has led him to take initiative in the workplace, creating opportunities rather than waiting for them, and using each one as a chance to learn and grow.

Piece of Advice:

"Be comfortable with the uncomfortable. The only way to grow in your career as well as in your personal life is to try new things."
