#KeepinIt100

Meet Natalie, a senior marine affairs and ecosystem science & policy major with a minor in public relations!

This past spring, Natalie expanded her horizons by studying abroad at the American University of Rome. As the first in her family to pursue graduate education, Natalie turned to Cane2Cane for guidance on navigating the graduate school process for marine and environmental science students.

Through Cane2Cane, Natalie connected with alumni like Bhanu Calvert, who provided invaluable advice about graduate school applications. The platform taught her how to refine her search and better understand the differences between applying to undergraduate and graduate programs.

Natalie emphasizes the importance of leveraging UM’s extensive alumni network, which has been instrumental in shaping her academic and professional path.

Piece of Advice:

“I highly recommend Cane2Cane to fellow UM students. Whether you're exploring graduate school, internships, or career paths, it’s an amazing tool to learn from alumni who’ve been in your shoes. Don’t hesitate to reach out - it’s a unique opportunity to connect and grow.”
