#KeepinIt100

Meet Lucia Moglia, a pre-law junior majoring in international studies and global health studies with a minor in creative writing!

Lucia is part of The Miami Hurricane, WVUM, and the Miami International Relations Association as an e-board member. She also accepted a position as a research assistant, where she analyzes Indigenous rights and, more specifically, youth Indigenous activists’ work and contribution to different causes, such as the climate action movement.

Through Toppel, Lucia has attended events such as the CIA, FBI, and Peace Corps panels. She also says that Toppel has helped her become career-ready by offering resources that aid in displaying herself as a top applicant in the process of applying for internships or jobs. These resources include, but are not limited to, resume editing, interview tips, and networking workshops.

Lucia also says that Toppel does an excellent job at connecting current ‘Canes to past ‘Canes, who are always willing to offer career advice or any insight they may have. Having access to these alumni is essential to forging the paths of our professional and personal futures.

Piece of Advice:

“Take risks. Even if you think you are not qualified or maybe not interested in an opportunity, apply regardless, for you never know what doors will be waiting to open for you if you are only willing to try. Do not be scared to talk to people, even those in higher positions than you, because you never know what advice or help they will be ready to offer.”

ChatGPT Prompt Guide

Throughout history, technology has been essential in making our lives easier. And with the rise in AI, doing things online has never been easier…especially when it comes to career exploration.

While Google is good when it comes to searching for information, ChatGPT can also be a great way to learn more about a topic without having to sift through the immense amount of information out there. You can practically ask ChatGPT anything, and it will have some sort of guideline that you can use to help you in your career journey.

Because of this, we made a ChatGPT Prompt guide with different prompts to help you ask the right questions to get the right responses. After using this guide, we advise you to come meet with a career coach so that you can create an action plan for success!

How To Do A One-Way Interview

As you apply and hear back from employers, there’s a chance that you may get some interviews that will be one-way interviews. If you’ve never heard of a one-way interview, they’re pretty much the same as a regular interview...but the employer will provide you with the questions and ask you to record yourself answering them.

Although this may sound awkward at first, these types of interviews actually have some benefits. Namely, they provide you a chance to practice your questions beforehand, start over if you don’t like the way you said something, and allow you to do the interview at your own pace. If you'd like some tips on how to do a one-way interview, check out this Indeed article for more information.

Want some practice interviewing? Then try out Big Interview! Big Interview is an online system that combines training AND practice to help improve your interview technique and build your confidence. Utilizing it will allow you to do virtual mock interviews with thousands of interview questions and tips on how to answer them.

Ivan Degtyarev

Career Coach

Meet Ivan Degtyarev, a junior majoring in business management and business technology!

Ivan is treasurer of ACS (Association of Commuter Students) and a brother of the Alpha Kappa Psi professional fraternity. This year he is most looking forward to making the most out of his leadership positions and involvements, such as Alpha Kappa Psi and his position as Career Coach at Toppel.

One thing Ivan wishes he had known before is some of the resources or opportunities that were available during his freshman and sophomore years. This semester he is especially focusing on keeping his grades 100 and #KeepinIt100 by working to secure positions and internships in the future that will help with gaining industry experience!
