#KeepinIt100
Meet Fadelaht Pessinaba, a senior majoring in business technology and finance with a minor in accounting!
While focusing on strengthening her professional skills and expanding her network, one key experience on her journey was Toppel’s London Career Crawl. During this experience, she connected with professionals from companies like Bloomberg and Morgan Stanley. This opportunity allowed her to gain insight into the types of companies she hopes to work for and provided valuable advice from UM alumni on navigating post-grad life. These conversations inspired her to keep developing her skills and clarified her career path.
Toppel has been instrumental in Fadelaht’s growth, especially in helping her build confidence in interviewing and networking. Through Toppel’s practice interviews and events with firms like PwC and KPMG, she gained the skills needed to pursue her career goals without hesitation. Now, she approaches interviews with confidence and applies her networking abilities to open new doors.
Piece of Advice:
“Take advantage of all the resources available to you! Whether it’s practice interviews, career crawls, or networking events, get involved. Don’t let fear hold you back - ask for help, practice, and push yourself out of your comfort zone.”

Tijanni (TJ) Clarke
Guest Experience Assistant
|
Meet Tijanni (TJ) Clarke, a sophomore majoring in computer science with a minor in business entrepreneurship!
TJ is an active member of the Caribbean Students Association (CSA), the United Black Students (UBS), and the Google Developer Student Club.
Reflecting on his first year, TJ wishes he’d known sooner about the many resource centers available at UM, such as Toppel, which offers career advising to help students prepare for the professional world. Now, he’s focused on making the most of these resources to set himself up for success.
TJ says that he is #KeepinIt100 by seeking to better himself in every aspect and not losing motivation if he is faced with rejection or adversity. The conviction to continuously better himself and to stay resilient despite facing adversity has led to connections that can help to further his career path.
Piece of Advice:
"Don’t linger on things beyond your control; focus your energy on what you can influence. Embrace change – it’s key to growth and overcoming adversity."
