Meet Kemeria Baraso, a junior nursing major with a minor in public health!
Over the summer Kameria interned at Parkland Hospital Collegiate as a Fellow Intern in the Community Relations Department, The Dr. Emmet J Conrad Leadership Program as a Conrad Intern, and Planned Parenthood as a Summer Leader Public Relations Intern.
Currently, she is a HPAC research assistant at the Don Soffer Clinical Research Center working on HIV treatment and prevention with the Psychology Department. Kameria also works at CVS Pharmacy as a Technician where she provides quality pharmaceutical care to patients by preparing new prescription refilling requests, dispensing medication, processing insurance claims, packing and labeling prescribed medication, and tracking inventory.
Kameria says that Toppel’s career coaches have continuously helped her revise and improve her resume. Not only has Toppel aided her in her internship-seeking process, but also helped in preparing her for the interviews that followed, by hosting EPIC (Employer Practice Interviews & Critics) where she acquired invaluable advice and techniques!
Piece of Advice:
“Take every opportunity you can get. Find a mentor that's in line with your educational pursuit, it makes navigating college and having opportunities a lot easier. Be involved in as many clubs, extracurriculars, and programs as possible this offers you networking opportunities. Step out of your comfort zone and try new things. Be kind to everyone because it goes a long way. Live in the moment and enjoy the best years of your life. Also, arguably the most important advice create a LinkedIn account!”

Jeniffer Rivera
Career Education Intern
|
Meet Jeniffer Rivera, a senior Public Relations major with a minor in marketing! Jeniffer is a part of PRSA (Public Relations Society of America) and Distraction Magazine as a Model.
She says that she is most looking forward to growing more, networking with her peers, attending career fairs to gain an internship or job, and graduation this May!
Jeniffer says that she wishes she had known to join more clubs because they have great opportunities to travel outside of Miami and meet more people in her field of work. #UShine has allowed her to get out of her bubble and explore various opportunities she wouldn't have been able to see herself in.
This has allowed her to gain amazing contacts in the future after she graduates, as well as become a part of the Latina Project Scholar Program through the Herbert Business School which consists of a 5-week networking course.
Piece of Advice:
"You miss 100% of the shots you don't take.”
