Meet Vipul Dube, a 2nd year master's student, pursuing a Master of Science degree in Music Engineering Technology (MSMET) from the Frost School of Music!

Over the summer, Vipul did an internship at Motorola Solutions in Plantation, FL where he worked as an Audio Engineering Intern with the Audio Research and Development team. He was tasked to work with portable devices for Public Safety Mission-Critical Audio which produce devices that help create a lifeline for firefighters, soldiers & law enforcement officers. Vipul has since worked with them in the fall and plans to continue with them as a co-op intern in the spring.

Vipul is part of the Toppel Internship Program and says that Toppel has been extremely beneficial when it comes to his career development. The Toppel Internship Program's structure and assignments helped him keep track of what he was doing and helped him analyze his work better. He notes that the Skillsurvey career readiness tool in particular was a great self-analysis resource.

Piece of Advice:

“Keep looking out for opportunities of all kinds, and if you find something interesting don't hesitate to ask more about it, also either if you're working at a company or taking classes, try to take up tasks that take you out of your comfort zone because those are the tasks that will help you learn and grow even faster.”

Using Handshake Even After you Graduate

Just because you graduate does not mean that you’re unable to utilize some of the services that we provide. Finding a Mentor Over Break Through C2C

Doing everything on your own is hard work, and that’s why mentorships are important. Not only is it a form of networking, but it also serves as a way to help you grow as a person. You can always learn something from everyone, but learning from someone in your field or who was in a similar position can be even more beneficial since your goals are aligned.

One of the best ways to find a mentor is through Cane2Cane. C2C allows you to connect with fellow ‘Canes who are successful and open to mentoring upcoming ‘Canes, so that they can share their wealth of knowledge. C2C has hundreds of active members waiting to connect with fellow ‘Canes, so during the break it may be a good idea to browse through some of the mentors on there just to see if there are any that you might want to reach out to!

Meet Michael Rodriguez-Hawkins, a junior real estate major with minors in architecture and urban studies!

Michael is a part of the Real Estate and Finance Association (REFA). One thing Michael wishes he had known in his previous years at the U is to take advantage of professors’ office hours.

By taking advantage of on-campus recruiting sessions and club networking events to better his chances of getting interviews, Michael was able to achieve his goal of having a junior internship over the summer where he will be interning at Starwood Property Trust in Miami Beach!
