#KeepinIt100

Meet Ian Lee, a senior biomedical engineering major!

Ian serves on the executive board as the director of academic affairs in student government. This past year, Ian worked as a medical scribe in Jackson Memorial Hospital’s Infectious Disease Transplant Division with ScribeAmerica. Collaborating with physicians and medical staff, he contributed to efficient patient care and trained new scribes, gaining hands-on experience in a fast-paced healthcare environment. This work reinforced his passion for medicine and patient care, even on those early 4 AM shifts.

Through Toppel’s Cane2Cane platform, Ian landed his first research assistant role as a freshman, which led to further opportunities in medical scribing. He has also stated that by participating in resume reviews and workshops, it ultimately helped expand his career perspective.

Piece of Advice:

“Don’t fear rejection – successful applicants often face over 150 rejections before a win. Each application, rejection, and interview builds valuable experience that prepares you for the next opportunity. Getting started is already half the battle!”
