Applying to Internships Over the Summer on Handshake

While most internships typically take place over the summer, now is still a good time to look, as there are still plenty of opportunities available in the fall. As you search for internships on Handshake, just browse through the start dates, and you’ll see internships with upcoming dates that you can apply to.

Internships are the number one way to increase your chances of finding a job after college because they offer you the hands-on skills required when companies are looking for a candidate with experience - so it’s best to take advantage of them now while you still can.

Another great resource that you can take advantage of is Parker Dewey. With Parker Dewey, you can gain valuable skills through Micro-Internships. How to Network Over the Break

You know what they say: “It’s not what you know, but who you know.” And while you still have to know how to do the tasks required for the role, who you know is most certainly important as well. While you’re on break, it might be a good idea to start networking and reaching out to people whom you can learn from or who can even provide you with opportunities.

Aside from networking on C2C, you can also network on LinkedIn by searching for people in your field. You’d be surprised at how many people would be willing to meet with you or share information about their career journey if you simply just asked.

Another way you can expand your network is through your internship. Networking at your internship is vital because the people you’ll meet can get to know you on a personal and professional level, which is what companies secretly look for when they’re hiring. Remember - it all just starts with a genuine conversation!
