You can use virtual drop-in career advising to get the assistance you need, when you need it. Black Lives Matter!
Over the summer months, Toppel posted our support for BLM on our website and social media platforms. This was our first statement:
- We denounce and stand against racism.
- We stand in solidarity with and support Black lives.
- We recognize that the state of race in America is harmfully affecting our Black university community.
- The Toppel Career Center team will remain dedicated to educating students, employers, and each other about diversity, equity, and inclusion in our society, and specifically, in the workplace.
- We will continue to listen, learn, educate, and challenge ourselves to promote and stand for anti-racism in support of UM students and the employers who recruit at the U.
- We will keep saying and honoring their names: George Floyd, Ahmaud Arbery, Breonna Taylor (and the countless others) and challenge you to do the same.
BLACK LIVES MATTER
Stay tuned to the Toppel Insider as we feature our plans throughout the semester.

Ben Ezzy
Communication Specialist
|
Hi everyone! My name is Ben Ezzy and I am the Communications Specialist at Toppel. This means I oversee the graphic design and social media interns and help put together the communications/marketing materials that you see on our platforms… including this newsletter! I graduated from UM in the Class of 2020, and I am back as an MFA Interactive Media student in the School of Communication, where I also teach Introduction to Electronic Media Production. I have a passion for live media producing and directing, and I have interned for CBS News in New York and the Miami Heat. I’ve also worked professionally as an Associate Producer for CBS-4 here in South Florida. Outside of work, I am a referee, and I enjoy staying active and involved in athletics and going out to eat with friends.
If I can give one piece of professional advice, it’s to take advantage of the fact that you’re a student and use that to open doors. I first reached out to the producer of the Miami Heat broadcasts to do a project on sports leadership for a Sports Admin class I took junior year at UM. We stayed in touch, and that’s how I got the internship opportunity a year later.
