The One Skill Every Grad Will Need in 2019

Most decisions are usually made after evaluating multiple sets of data. For instance, companies oftentimes look at financial performance, analyze different strategies, and collect as well as process data in order to reach a conclusion. Although recent grads don’t necessarily need to master software or programming languages, it’s imperative to start developing data literacy skills.

With the rapid advancement of technology upon us, employees need to be able to understand the data collection process and how it affects their company. Check out this article to learn why data literacy is a skill that should be developed by graduation!

Jennifer Faria

Assistant Director
Business Consultant

In college at UVA, I was a quiet and studious student and used my small-town southern charm to navigate the large lecture halls and manicured green lawns and make friends with my fellow Wahoos. I was also highly active on campus, teaching swimming lessons, playing intramural co-ed soccer and club water polo, and working for the campus smoothie bar. In business school, I studied accounting and marketing but soon decided to follow the numbers route after an internship in the accounting department one summer at my local hospital. I graduated with honors and a full-time offer in audit from PricewaterhouseCoopers. After a summer of selling wicked wraps in Newport, RI, my post-graduation professional journey began in Washington D.C. working with high-tech and entertainment clients. One piece of advice that I wish I had received while in school would be, “it’s not all about grades but also about the experiences.”
