#BounceBack

Meet Hannah Viney! Hannah is a sophomore double majoring in Communication Studies and Public Relations, with a minor in Advertising. Hannah recently attended the Job & Internship Expo, and is hoping to secure an internship with a public relations firm or agency. She has spent time with Toppel advisors to review her resume and #BounceBack from pandemic-related career struggles.

"I have found it quite challenging to form connections during my career search. I have applied to a few jobs using LinkedIn, but I am often competing with several hundred applicants for a position. COVID-19 has also made it difficult - I believe online learning limited me and prevented me from building relationships with my professors and employers. Going to Toppel has helped me realize what I need to do to become a strong candidate for a potential job opportunity."

#BounceBack Story:

I had to #BounceBack from the fears I felt toward my accent when speaking in English. I believed that, because of my accent, no one would take me seriously and that I would not be able to get the same opportunities as someone who speaks the language perfectly or looks different from me. The moment I got out of that dark mentality, I realized that I can get all the opportunities I want if I put my mind to it and showcase my best qualities and personality.
