Meet Anaya Iglesias! Anaya is a first-year student from San Diego, California, majoring in Nursing with minors in Business Law and Creative Writing. She is part of the Alliance of Latin American Students (ALAS), Residential Leadership Council, Women's Frisbee Club, and Ladies Lift. Here is Anaya's #BounceBack story:

"During the height of the pandemic, my family faced financial hardships that lead to us moving twice in the span of 1.5 years. The constant relocating affected my outlook on the possibility of college after high school, but I was able to #BounceBack thanks to my teachers and family encouraging me to apply to colleges and scholarships. This led to me being accepted to the University of Miami with a Presidential Scholarship!"

The key is research, and Handshake has a number of great features to help you out. You can look at employer pages for available jobs, information about the interview process, reviews from other students, or message them directly to get your questions answered. You can also search for and follow employers to receive notifications about job postings directly. When you’re applying to a new job or internship, your employer will probably try to find your social media profiles. Depending on what they find online, this search might be the difference between you getting – or not getting – the position you want. Best Advice

It’s not your life if you’re constantly worrying about what others think. While I found this quote while scrolling through tiktok, it stuck with me because of its truth. It can be so easy to let the fear of what others would think of you keep you from doing what you love. It is important to let those thoughts go and do whatever your heart desires.
