Have you connected with a potential mentor on Cane2Cane? We understand that reaching out for the first time can be intimidating - that's why we are encouraging you to complete the Connection Success Pathway on Cane2Cane by Friday, November 12th to be entered for a chance to win UM gear!
The Connection Success Pathway will guide you through the steps of requesting, landing, and completing an informational interview. An informational interview is an opportunity to learn more about a specific industry, career opportunity, or professional. The pathway is made up of thirteen steps that include videos, quizzes, and interactive activities. By the time you finish all thirteen steps, you'll have confidently completed an informational interview, from initial preparation all the way to follow up. After completing this pathway, you will be well-prepared to connect with UM alumni, UM faculty/staff, and friends of the U on the C2C platform.
To begin, access the Connection Success Pathway from your C2C homepage.

As the saying goes, information is power - and informational interviews can be crucial to helping you become well-informed about the industry or company you’re considering joining. They’re also a great way to network and develop some contacts in your field. So, don’t let a little fear of the unknown get in your way!
Here’s a guide to help you make the most out of your informational interviews and take some of the awkwardness out of the process.

#BounceBack Story:
I had to #BounceBack from the fears I felt toward my accent when speaking in English. I believed that, because of my accent, no one would take me seriously and that I would not be able to get the same opportunities as someone who speaks the language perfectly or looks different from me. The moment I got out of that dark mentality, I realized that I can get all the opportunities I want if I put my mind to it and showcase my best qualities and personality.
