#BreakThru

Meet Anan Yu! Anan is a sophomore majoring in architecture. She was searching for a way to #BreakThru the pandemic restrictions and shadow someone in her field of interest, when she found UShadow at Toppel! Through the program, she was able to connect with a senior architect at Stantec Architecture Inc. and speak with her about what it’s like in the field and how to become career ready. Anan says that the connection is helping to guide her remaining years at UM, and she is now able to set priorities to better prepare herself.

Some advice from Anan: Take all the opportunities you get. I didn’t know that much about the UShadow program before I signed up, but I was able to get a shadow experience because of this opportunity.

Best Advice?

Mental health matters first.

#BreakThru Story?

I had to achieve an A or B to be able to double major in Psychology. I took AP psychology before in high school and I had a hard time but with the right professor and better study habits I was able to get an A! This allowed me to enroll in 2 psychology classes at the same time and allowed me to feel like I belong while in them.
