#BreakThru

Meet Bruna Cristofaro De Souza! Bruna is a double major in Business Analytics and Management. She recently accepted a full-time offer to continue her work at World Fuel Services, where she has interned and worked part-time since her sophomore year. In her roles, Bruna has helped the company develop their Cloud Economics capabilities, creating a culture of cloud cost ownership and reducing the company cloud costs by 50%. She has also taken time to #BreakThru in her professional development, earning three certifications: AWS Cloud Practitioner, Microsoft Azure Fundamentals, and AWS Solutions Architect Associate.

Some advice from Bruna: Certifications have value to your career growth. I created a group to incentivize people across the organization to take their certifications.

The University of Miami Division of Student Affairs is partnering with USC’s Race & Equity Center to launch a racial climate survey. The survey is for undergraduate students and it aims to capture data about the racial climate on UM's campus. The survey takes approximately 15 minutes to complete, and it will be used to assist the university in our ongoing efforts to foster a welcoming, diverse, and inclusive campus environment.

Students who complete the survey will be automatically entered into a drawing where 10 students will each win a $30 gift certificate to the Rathskeller and 20 students will win $10 for Starbucks.

Best Advice?

Hesitation leads to devastation. Although this sounds corny because it rhymes, it is important to me because it reminds me to do everything with my full attention, go full force and have a positive mindset.

#BreakThru Story?

A barrier I've had to #BreakThru when reaching toward my career goals is being comfortable talking in social situations. I have always been introverted when I first meet someone and in groups tend to just sit quietly and listen. By working on my communication skills, I have been able to speak up to ask questions and include my own thoughts about the things I want to do career-wise, which has led me to learn more about what exactly I want to do with my majors.
