Don't Forget your Network

With COVID-19 transforming the job market, it is important to stay flexible and remember to work smarter, not necessarily harder, in these times. Simply sending your resume everywhere and hoping for the best is not smart. Networking still is king and is your best shot at landing your next career opportunity.

According to a 2016 report from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics and Yale University, 70% of jobs are obtained through networking. This could not be more important than it is today. Building, maintaining, and fostering relationships are what will get you your next job. Read more on how to focus your networking and job search efforts in this article.

Jordan Craft

Coordinator, Internships

I graduated from the University of Miami in May of 2019 with a Bachelor’s of Business Administration with majors in Management and Marketing and a minor in Music Business and Entertainment Industries. I spent my time on campus stretching myself thin to try and do all I could in my time here. I was a member of United Black Students, B.O.N.D, Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia, Tau Beta Sigma, and a member of the Frost Band of the Hour Marching Band and Pep Band. I wanted to make sure my time as a collegiate Hurricane was spent really embracing the culture and learning what it really meant to be a part of The U. If I could give one piece of advice to you all I would say that now is the time to discover yourself. Take time to do something that is just for you. Learn a new skill, try a new hobby, you never know what you might learn about yourself along the way!
