Meet Maria Texeira! Maria is a junior majoring in Entrepreneurship and minoring in Marketing and International Business.

This spring semester Maria participated in Toppel’s UShadow program where she was able to shadow a Web Strategy & Development Strategist at Carnival Cruise Line. During her shadow experience Maria joined her host, Vanessa, in a meeting with Carnival’s ad agency where they presented marketing concepts for Carnival’s biggest event of the year.

Maria says that by sitting in this meeting, she was able to see how events in a big company require effective and frequent communication between the members of the team. The UShadow experience also reassured her that marketing was her passion and encouraged her to specialize in branding.

Some advice from Maria: “Participate in the UShadow program every semester that you can, especially if you are in doubt about your future career goals. Do it in different fields to experience typical days in those jobs. You learn a lot, you meet a lot of interesting people, and it really helps you discover your passions.”
