#MakeMoves

Meet Kaeli Romero! Kaeli is a junior studying Health Science with the goal of becoming a Physician Assistant in the future. This semester, Kaeli is participating in the Professional Development Academy for Healthcare majors. Through the academy, she is learning new skills on workplace professionalism, networking, communication, ethical decision-making and more! Kaeli says that with the help of the PDA Academy, she is confident and organized in her post-graduate plans. For example, she has learned to make budget plans and has started to explore graduate school options.

Some Advice from Kaeli: “Reach out to professionals who are experts in the field you are interested in. Apply to programs outside of your studies. Research your future career. Build up a successful resume. And finally, be passionate about your studies! If what you are studying does not inspire you, then you are entering the wrong field. But, don’t be afraid to try again, it is never too late, as long as your passions guide your decision.”

Chaos Theory in Action

Have you ever heard of the Chaos Theory of Careers? At Toppel our career education model is guided by this framework. The Chaos Theory of Careers (CTC) assumes that there are many influences in our lives that make it difficult to predict where our lives will lead. Nothing is certain and everything is possible. Your career journey could include education and experience in a specific occupation and field or it could include jobs in completely different areas. Don't be afraid to embrace change and chaos!

Check out this article from Buzzfeed that demonstrates Chaos Theory in action!
