#MakeMoves
Look who’s been making moves! Amanda is a junior majoring in Broadcast Journalism with minors in Sports Administration & Public Relations.
Amanda is a Media Production intern for HeaTv. Some of her responsibilities include logging games, sorting through broadcast media, recording any content regarding the Heat, including post-game interviews, editing those interviews, and sending them to be posted to Heat.com and social media. She also creates the slow motion video montage of game highlights that is viewed by fans when they first visit Heat.com.
“Before applying to this internship, I was actually pretty nervous because I felt like my resume wasn’t up to par with what should be expected from a second semester sophomore. Toppel helped me gain confidence by looking over my resume and giving me helpful tips on how to adjust and tweak it so that my experience and talents were effectively shown on paper. After I got the internship, my boss actually said that I was considered for the full season internship as opposed to the summer internship because of my resume!”
Some advice from Amanda: “Step into Toppel in your free time! It’s filled with so many resources, even if you think you don’t have a reason or an opportunity lined up. Toppel offers walk-ins and always hosts speakers that are great for networking! Check your emails too! Toppel loves to send great opportunities out to students, I actually just got involved with USHADOW and I now have the opportunity to shadow the Senior Director for Video Production and Publishing at MotorSports.com. I would have never had this opportunity if it wasn’t for Toppel.”

NBA Intern Program
The NBA U.S. Intern Program is a 10-week (June – August) full-time program that enhances students’ work experience by bridging the gap between the academic environment and a future work environment. Interns learn the business of basketball off the court and behind the scenes of a global sports organization through direct exposure to NBA, WNBA, and NBA Gatorade League executives.
The Intern Program includes a robust curriculum of professional development activities, including a three-day orientation that acclimates interns to their work environment. Interns participate in multiple training programs, events, and activities designed to broaden their knowledge of the industry. Their exposure to the business of basketball includes attendance at a variety of NBA events, such as the NBA Draft and an NBA Cares activity, and participation in discussion forums with executives from a variety of departments, including the Commissioner’s office.
