CONGRATS, SENIORS! PICK UP YOUR CAP & GOWN

May 9 and 10, 8:30am - 8pm
Toppel Career Center

Caps and gowns for graduation can be picked up from 8:30am until 8pm on Tuesday, May 9th, and Wednesday, May 10th, at the Toppel Career Center located at 5225 Ponce De Leon Blvd.

If you haven't already, it is recommended that you complete the Graduating Student Survey before you arrive to pick up your cap and gown. The survey collects information about your experience at UM and your post-graduation plans, providing valuable data for University decision-making as well as accreditation and national ranking surveys.

Did you know Toppel's services are available to alumni? Whether you're still figuring out your career or looking for assistance moving up or transitioning to a new career, check out our website to see how we can help!

DIRECTED INDEPENDENT LANGUAGE STUDY

Application Deadline: May 12

Directed Independent Language Study (DILS) is designed to give motivated students the opportunity to study languages not currently offered through traditional classroom instruction at the University of Miami. The goal of the program is to assist students in gaining linguistic and cultural competence, primarily through active conversation in the language of their choice, and to promote their ability to adapt and respond to new linguistic and cultural environments. Flexibility is one of the key components of the program as it responds to the students' language needs. Learn more about the program, or direct specific questions to Dr. Maria Kosinki, Director of DILS.

SHOULD STUDENTS PUT THEIR ADDRESSES ON RESUMES?

Should students put their address on their resumes? An employer on the NACE Community said that students should not include addresses on resumes, but you can include a city or metro area in your header to indicate where you live or where you want to work.

Lots of Ideas

ART TALK

Each issue will feature a piece of art from the Toppel Collection along with a quote from a Toppel staff member sharing their thoughts on the art and its message.

For this issue, Peer Advisor Varuna Rampersad-Singh shared this about "Lots of Ideas":

"Working with others is such an important part of creating great ideas. Gaining ideas from multiple mindsets is the best way to make each vision come to life. There is always room for improvement, and input from others can always help form the most effective models. I know at Toppel that contributions from each staff member help everything run smoothly each day."
