#MakeMoves

Courtney is a Junior majoring in Marketing with a minor in Music Business. Last summer, she worked for AT&T in their Global Public Sector offices. She was on a team of three working specifically with the Professional Services Management Office which is part of AT&T's strategy and operations group. The team worked on everything from a communication campaign to a project management initiative. Courtney’s favorite part of her internship was getting to know and work with more than 40 interns from around the country.

Courtney says Toppel has helped her to think about ways she can make moves, advance herself, and achieve her career aspirations.

Some advice from Courtney: “Always be hungry and striving for the next thing. I'm a very futuristic person so I'm always looking for what I can get involved with next, so as much as it's important to know your limits and what you can and can't handle, I would say to keep pushing yourself attempting new things because it could be just what you were looking for."

Why am I not Employed?

This article by Toppel’s own Brian Malcolm demonstrates why patience is one of the most essential and underestimated elements of the job search process. When Brian was an undergrad (at the U!) and grad student, he hit all of his check marks: he gained relevant professional experience, submitted high quality academic work, connected with professors and professionals, and held student leadership positons. And yet he was still unemployed for three months after graduation.

Read this short article to learn how he took action and invested time, energy, and effort into his own personal and professional development. Through self-reflection and self-exploration, he was able to make sure he was controlling his job search and not the other way around.
