CONGRATULATIONS PD ACADEMY GRADUATES

Congratulations to the Spring 2017 Professional Development Academy graduates! This elite group of future professionals spent eight weeks exploring proficiency areas for the workplace. We are proud of each of you and the amazing things you will accomplish in the workforce!

The Professional Development Academy is an eight week intensive program designed to help students develop knowledge and skills for career readiness and success. The Academy offers participants the opportunity to explore critical professional competencies identified by employers including Thinking & Reasoning, Workplace Professionalism, and Communication.

Toppel will be hosting a webinar put on by the Department of Homeland Security focused on cybersecurity missions and cyber career opportunities. This is a great opportunity for anyone interested in pursuing a career in cybersecurity.

PEACE CORPS INFO SESSION

Wednesday, April 26, 4pm

Come learn about Peace Corps as an organization, the application process, and what programs are offered. You will have the opportunity to hear personal anecdotes from returned volunteers and ask questions. If you want to set up an individual appointment with a recruiter to talk about tailoring your resume, you can also do so.

 

DIRECTED INDEPENDENT LANGUAGE STUDY

Application Deadline: May 12

Directed Independent Language Study (DILS) is designed to give motivated students the opportunity to study languages not currently offered through traditional classroom instruction at the University of Miami. The goal of the program is to assist students in gaining linguistic and cultural competence, primarily through active conversation in the language of their choice, and to promote their ability to adapt and respond to new linguistic and cultural environments. Flexibility is one of the key components of the program as it responds to the students' language needs. Assistant Director, Career Education

Debbie has a Master of Arts degree in Student Affairs Administration in Higher Education from Ball State University and a Bachelor of Science in Sociology from the Florida State University. Before joining Toppel, she worked for Resident Life at the University of Maryland. Debbie advises students on their career goals and oversees walk-in advising from Peer Advisors, Sebastian’s Closet, and outreach within UM.
