Students were recognized for their accomplishments during the Lavender Graduation Celebration.

The Toppel Career Center promotes and supports the career development of LGBTQ students and alumni by connecting the LGBTQ community and allies with campus and external resources advocating for inclusive environments that foster personal and career growth.

The Toppel Career Center is dedicated to advocacy and development of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, and ally (LGBTQ+) students at the University of Miami and beyond. In addition to the resources provided on our website we encourage students to also come in to meet with an advisor to help formulate their career education plan.


American Civil Liberties Union - Lesbian Gay & Transgender Project works to ensure that lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender people can live openly without discrimination and enjoy equal rights, personal autonomy, and freedom of expression and association.

GLAD's bold and effective advocacy has achieved scores of precedent-setting legal victories to end discrimination based on sexual orientation, HIV status, and gender identity and expression.

Pride@Work works towards creating a Labor Movement that cherishes diversity, encourages openness, and ensures safety & dignity.

The Pipeline Project works to achieve significantly increased levels of diversity within LGBT advocacy and service organizations and in the leadership of those organizations with a program focused on recruitment and retention of diverse talent for LGBT organizations. 

Out & Equal - Workplace Advocates is the world’s premier nonprofit organization dedicated to achieving lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender workplace equality

Out Professionals is the nation’s leading LGBT non-profit network, with close to 1,000 Members and over 5,000 email subscribers representing dozens of different work backgrounds and some 600 companies.

University of Miami LGBTQ Student Center

The University of Miami's LGBTQ Student Center is committed to ensuring that lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer/questioning (LGBTQ) students thrive in an environment that is safe, inclusive, and supportive of their academic and personal goals. Having a student population that is diverse in its range of sexual orientations, gender identities, and gender expressions enriches our campus with valuable ideas and insights.

The UM LGBTQ Student Center fosters inclusion and support of University of Miami students faculty, staff, and alumni inclusive of all genders, orientations, and expressions, and focuses on education and outreach, programming, intergroup engagement, empowerment, and advocacy for increased visibility in the university community. The Center is located in University Center 2300K.

LGBTQ 'Canes Alumni Affiliate Group

The LGBTQ ’Canes is a group for LGBTQ and allied alumni of the University of Miami to reminisce about shared experiences at the U, talk about issues that affect the LGBTQ community, network with fellow alumni regionally, and celebrate being ’Canes!
