Meet JP Duque, a junior studying finance and economics. Last summer, JP interned at J.P. Morgan. He was a summer analyst in the Wholesale Credit Analytics and Solutions (WCAS) group. This group ensures that J.P. Morgan passes all of the regulations mandated by the FED, mainly focusing on how well-capitalized and prepared the bank is to be able to survive any potential economic downturn.

During his internship, JP worked with some of the smartest individuals he’d ever met and built lasting relationships with individuals at all levels of the organization, including Managing Directors.

JP took advantage of the many resources Toppel has to offer. He had over three practice interviews with different staff members and had his resumes and cover letters edited by peer advisers at least 50 times! His hard work and commitment to professional development have paid off, and he credits much of his success to the people who have helped him along the way.

JP says that his first meeting with Kim Burr as a lost Freshman changed his whole perspective on what he was capable of. That meeting led to many more, which was how he met other Toppel staff members who have had a large impact on his career.

Some advice from JP: “Utilize any and all resources available because it really does take a village. Like the seniors told me when I was a sophomore, if you work hard and stay focused, things play out on their own. And lastly, join TargetCanes!”
